Liverpool Diocese to return to Jerusalem in 2017
The Bishop of Warrington, Rt Revd Richard Blackburn, will lead a diocesan pilgrimage from the Church of England Diocese of Liverpool to Galilee, Bethlehem and Jerusalem in June 2017.
Details of the pilgrimage were launched today at Liverpool Cathedral.
The pilgrims will leave Manchester Airport on for eight days of visits, services and special events covering the whole of Jesus' ministry.
As well as Nazareth and the lakeside churches around the Sea of Galilee where the pilgrimage begins, the Bishop will lead his group to Bethlehem and Jerusalem.
"We cover a lot of ground over the week but people are given a wonderful insight into where these things happened which form the basis of our faith and we will meet with Christians who live in the Holy Land today," said Bishop Blackburn today.
He added: "This area is so often in the news for all the wrong reasons but what we find in the Holy Land are many people of all faiths commited to finding a peaceful way forward and that is our prayer as we travel from the Liverpool Diocese."
This is the third pilgrimage led by the Bishop over the past seven years.
It is open to all.
Details of the programme are available on the Lightline Pilgrimage website
